Vikings QB Brett Favre is in a walking boot and has two fractures in his surgically repaired left ankle, though the ankle injury is not as severe as the fractured ankles of those currently jumping off the Vikings’ bandwagon.
Favre’s status is in doubt next week against the Patriots — which is not a bad matchup, even though Chargers QB Philip Rivers had limited success with practice squad receivers. QB Tarvaris Jackson will get the start if Favre cannot go, and I certainly like him better with WR Randy Moss than I would have earlier this year.
Some other injuries revealed on M*A*S*H Monday:
St. Louis RB Steven Jackson had surgery on his left ring finger, and is day-to-day. Jackson says that he will not miss a beat, and that he figures to rush for 100 yards, but not score a touchdown this week. Or something like that. Jackson has a great matchup against the Panthers this week. Carolina has been vulnerable to fantasy running backs.Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams is day-to-day with a sprained foot. The Panthers running backs, when you throw in Jonathan Stewart, have been wildly disappointing this year.RB Reggie Bush is returning to the Saints, and not a moment too soon. His presence should help make the offense more dynamic — good news for you struggling with QB Drew Brees. The Saints have been going with RB Chris Ivory, and coach Sean Payton got contentious when pressed on a perceived ‘tiff’ with RB Pierre Thomas. Though, there was no update about Thomas’ status. The key will be Wednesday’s injury report, so be sure to check back.
